I grew up alongside the trees in the backyard of my childhood home in Cochrane. My youth was spent trailing behind my parents in the garden or the woods, hands and shoes muddy. I’ve always been deeply enchanted by the living world—stopping to rescue worms in the rain, talking to plants like friends, and finding wonder in the smallest corners of nature.
I’m a maker and enjoyer of beautiful things. Gardening is one of my favorite things to spend time doing , but I also express that love through art and photography. I also joyfully disappear into nerdy realms like D&D, video games, movies, and TV. My home is a tiny ecosystem of its own, shared with two dogs, a snake, a frogs, and a number of tarantulas (I’ve lost count) —because life is better when it’s a little weird.
When I bought my house, I looked at a yard full of gravel and saw possibility. I slowly transformed it into a lush, living garden with a veggie box and space for things to grow wild and happy. I’ve also joined four native plant rescues around Cochrane, helping doomed plants to continue their life. I’ve spent the last 5 years working seasonally as a residential gardener, first on a large estate ranch outside of Airdrie, then around various neighbourhoods within and around Calgary. Currently I’m completing my Master Gardener program.
For me, gardening is a form of love, rebellion, and reverence—a way of tending to the earth while letting it gently tend to me in return.
